Your Car and Driving in a Heatwave

| Morley Auto Services | Blog

During a heatwave, your car faces additional stresses from extreme temperatures.  Here's a checklist of car maintenance and precautions to help protect your vehicle and avoid breakdowns:

Essential Maintenance

1. Check Coolant Levels

Make sure the radiator is full and the coolant is clean and at the proper mixture.

2. Tyre Pressure

Hot roads can increase  tyre pressures; check your tyre pressures before going travelling too far and make sure they are suitable.

3. Air Conditioning System

Ensure it's blowing cold air. If not, consider getting it recharged.

Driving & Usage Tips

Avoid Parking in Direct Sunlight

Use windscreen sunshades or park in a garage/shaded area.

Consider window tints or UV-reflective window films.

Use a dashboard Sun Protector to keep your steering wheel cool!

Use the proven Dr Hannah Fry technique for cooling a hot car – she’ got a PhD in fluid dynamics – knows what she’s talking about!
