The Mighty

Steve “The Stig” Evans and his Toyota Starlet are as well known as they come in the world of drifting. The Mighty was originally built in association with Autoglym and fast made a name for itself at the hands of Steve.
With many great results under his belt, Steve took some time out of the drivers seat and spent some time commentating at various events. Then, after some time supporting Ben’s own drifting career, he jumped back in the seat for one of the popular Norfolk Arena Drift Team practice days and the drifting bug soon bit again. But the car was tired and in desperate need of some tlc. After seeing the transformation of Goldmember he was happy to employ the services of Morleysport to make the “Mighty Starlet” better than ever.

Plans for a Burton Power Cosworth engine are afoot but, in the short term, the car was to be re-built with the immense HT Racing 2.4 Pinto.
Whilst in the care of Morleysport, we re-fabricated the gearbox and differential tunnels, fabricated new front inner wing sections, modified a Mk2 Escort crossmember to suit the Toyota chassis, specced Gaz Gold coilover shock absorbers all-round, we modified the steering to give more lock and also modified the suspension top mounts to allow for improved geometry. A Tran-X limited-slip differential was also installed to replace the welded unit. The car was also returned to 13” wheels – allowing superior geometry settings given the limitations of the chassis as it was.

So impressed was Steve with the work, he was happy to paint the car in the very same black and gold colour scheme of a certain 4-door Mk2 Escort. Perfect then as he was to be part of the line-up of Drift Team Morleysport.
The result of Steve putting his absolute faith in Morleysport saw him qualifying 6 th in his very first outing in the freshly built car with only base settings and no prior testing. There is a lot more to come from this car and Morleysport will be working closely with Steve at forthcoming test days in the near future.
