Project Skid Mark

Another one of Retro Ford Magazine’s project cars, this time though, it’s all very serious. The interestingly named Project Skid Mark started off life as a humble 2.8i Capri and is well on its way to being a fully fledged drift car for the 2011 British Drift Championship.

Nothing has been left to chance with this car, it will be an out-and-out weapon. After beign stripped to a bare shell it was loaded up and delivered to RNJ Motorsport who fabricated an extensive roll-cage to our specification. Upon it's return the Cosworth Turbo engine was mated to an Elite Racing Transmissions six-speed sequential gearbox (complete with custom ratio’s) and the whole lot was tried in the place. Morleysport then completely re-fabricated the transmission, prop and diff tunnels, along with the bulkhead, to allow the engine to be mounted further backwards and up inside the body. Whilst fabricating, a bespoke pedal box has been installed along with Corsa electric power steering.

Titan Motorsport have designed and built a custom steering rack to give quicker steering and lock. This, combined with some trick Morleysport front suspension mods, will see this Capri handling on rails. The build is still very much in progress, but the end result will not only be one of the most awesome Ford Capri’s out there, it will also be one hell of a drift car.
